Patrick 'exploring all legal implications' with regard to forged Timilty mailer

Gov. Deval Patrick's political committee confirmed Tuesday that the mailing distributed by Governor's Councilor Kelly Timilty's campaign featuring an endorsement from the governor was, in fact, phony and said that it is exploring whether there are legal implications of the forgery.

"The mailing sent out recently by the Timilty campaign was not approved by the Deval Patrick Committee, nor did the governor approve or author the letter that bears his signature" said Liz Morningstar, Executive Director of the Deval Patrick Committee. "The governor has not endorsed any candidate for Governor's Council. The Deval Patrick Committee is exploring all legal implications with respect to this unauthorized mailing."

PolitickerMA.com reported earlier Tuesday that Timilty, who is running for reelection in the second Governor's Council district, distributed a mailer with an endorsement from the governor that sources close to the governor said was phony.

Timilty is running against Milton Democrat Robert Jubinville.

Kelly Timilty should not be the Democratic Party's nominee.

I was appalled to learn of Kelly Timilty's illegal, underhanded stunt to gain the Democratic Party's nomination for Governor's Council. To so blatantly misuse the Governor's name and to forge his signature is a breach of ethics and a violation of the People's trust. She committed fraud against the voters and should not be allowed to get away with it.

Kelly Timilty is no newcomer to politics or campaigning, and her family certainly has a long history of running for political office. Contrary to her father's protestations, this was no accident.

Regardless of what the Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, or Ethics Commission decides to do, the People of this district should reject Kelly Timilty as our Governor's Councillor and write in Bob Jubinville on November 4th.

It really is appalling that

It really is appalling that Timilty is so oblivious she let this happen - or so deceitful that she knew better, but did it anyway. Timilty's actions here are inexcusable and I call on the Governor to see that this sorry excuse of an official is removed from office.
